Ava (2020)

Did I like it? It was alright. I didn't hate it.
Would I watch it again? Not voluntarily.
Would I recommend it? If you want to watch it, go ahead and watch it.

Ava: the story of an alcoholic-assassin with unresolved emotional trauma. There is a moment in the film where Bobbi (Geena Davis), the mother of Ava (Jessica Chastain), reveals why she made the decision she did regarding her family. A decision that changed the path of Ava's life. The gravity of that moment was heart wrenching but you don't get to feel the full impact because the director/writer doesn't give the two characters enough time to explore and go deeper emotionally. That scene had me for a bit, but then it was over too quickly. I was angry, shocked.. even though I should have seen it coming. That moment started when Bobbi said this:

You should choose carefully what you tell me Ava. 'Cause you can't un-say it, and I can't un-hear it.
